Delicious Touchdown Calzones packed with savory meats, melted cheese, and rich tomato sauce, perfect for game day or a satisfying dinner.

  • 1 package pizza dough (16 oz)
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup cooked Italian sausage, crumbled
  • 1/4 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 1/4 cup diced green bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Roll out pizza dough on a floured surface into a 12-inch circle.
  3. Spread marinara sauce evenly over half of the dough, leaving a 1-inch border.
  4. Layer mozzarella, sausage, pepperoni, bell pepper, olives, and onion over the sauce.
  5. Sprinkle Italian seasoning over the filling.
  6. Fold the dough over the filling, sealing the edges by pressing with a fork.
  7. Beat the egg and brush it over the calzone crust for a golden finish.
  8. Cut small slits on top to allow steam to escape.
  9. Bake calzone on a parchment-lined baking sheet for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra crispiness, brush the calzone with garlic butter immediately after baking.
