Freshly prepared Limoncello Tiramisu close-up

Limoncello Tiramisu is a refreshing Italian dessert that combines the classic creamy mascarpone layers with a zesty limoncello twist, perfect for a light and flavorful treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup limoncello liqueur
  • 24 ladyfinger cookies
  • Zest of 2 lemons
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting
  • Fresh lemon slices and mint leaves, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a heatproof bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar. Place over a pot of simmering water and whisk continuously until the mixture thickens and becomes pale, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
  2. Fold the mascarpone cheese into the cooled egg yolk mixture until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
  4. Pour the limoncello into a shallow dish. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the limoncello, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
  5. Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a serving dish or individual glasses.
  6. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  7. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone cream.
  8. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow flavors to meld.
  9. Before serving, dust with powdered sugar and sprinkle with lemon zest. Garnish with lemon slices and mint leaves if desired.

Notes

For an extra burst of lemon flavor, drizzle a little limoncello over each serving just before enjoying.
