Double Chocolate Cookies

Rich and fudgy double chocolate cookies made with both cocoa powder and chocolate chips for an irresistible chocolate lover’s treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped dark chocolate or chocolate chunks (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter with granulated sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and beat until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped dark chocolate, if using.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers still look slightly soft.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra gooey cookies, skip the chopping of dark chocolate and use only chocolate chips or add a sprinkle of sea salt on top before baking.
