This Cheese Tortellini in Creamy Marinara is a rich and comforting Italian-inspired pasta dish featuring tender cheese-filled tortellini bathed in a luscious creamy tomato sauce.

  • 12 oz cheese tortellini (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the cheese tortellini according to package instructions, drain, and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté minced garlic until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  3. Add the marinara sauce to the skillet and simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the heavy cream and grated Parmesan cheese, mixing well to create a creamy sauce.
  5. Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Add the cooked tortellini to the skillet and gently toss to coat the pasta with the creamy marinara sauce.
  7. Cook for an additional 2 minutes until heated through.
  8. Serve garnished with fresh basil leaves and extra Parmesan if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or sautéed mushrooms to the sauce before adding the cream.
