These Breakfast Protein Biscuits offer a delicious and satisfying start to your day, packed with wholesome protein and flavors that keep you energized.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup protein powder (unflavored or vanilla)
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1 cup low-fat milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, protein powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk milk, egg, and honey/maple syrup if using.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just until combined; do not overmix.
  6. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead 3-4 times.
  7. Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick round and cut into 8 biscuits using a biscuit cutter or glass.
  8. Place biscuits on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt before baking.
